Counseling Approach/Philosophy of Counseling/Comment for future clients
After I graduated a university in Japan, I went to USA in order to study English planning just for one year. However, I got interested in Psychology and counseling, so that I changed my plan. I went to university and received both bachelor’s and master’s degree, got a license for a Marriage and Family Therapist, and worked with clients with different backgrounds and various issues. After I spent 17years in USA and two years in China, I came back to Japan in 2014. I have been working as a counselor since 2015.
My counseling approach is basically humanistic and person-centered, valuing trust and relationship between you and myself.
I believe that you know the best for and about yourself. I am not a teacher or leader but a partner in our counseling sessions. When you can’t carry your heavy burden, I carry it with you. When you lost your way, I hold your hands and we will find ways together.
I also believe that everybody has choices under any situations and circumstances. A choice makes things different. I as your partner in our session, I will help and support you to be able to make the best or better choices for yourself. However, you are the only one who can make choices in order to make things different for yourself.
During my work with my clients, I use various approaches such as cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, art therapy and mindfulness, depending on their issues and condition at the time.
I am looking forward to working with you and I hope we will find ways to get your situation and yourself better together.
